Log unloader

I've added some logs and waste to the unloading platform, something for the unloader to work with. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/332/32752105035_83de0ae650_o.jpg by Mike Ruby , on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/340/32710929396_a39f4effdc_o.jpg by Mike Ruby , on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.c...

Re: Share your videos

Here are two of mine, showing switching on my 11th Avenue module.

First sorting cars in the yard and second switching the local industries. The second shows how I use destination cards to control the car movements.

Re: North Fork Springs

After very little advance over the last year I have got around to some work on the layout. A few months ago I made two new boards to to fill the space made by moving the corner board into the airing cupboard space. I've now completed the track bed support around the corner. This involved widening th...

Re: 23rd Street

Probably the last change to the module, I've moved the depot from under the road bridge to the corner. Having had to spread the boards for transport with signals there was now room for the depot. It looks far better here being set back further from the tracks. I reinstated the rear roof edge, never ...

Re: Programming problem - Powercab

If NCE is like Lenz the command station keeps a record of which addresses are in a consist and only sends the speed commands to the consist number, so until you clear the consist from the command station it would not send commands to the loco number. At least the problem has been cured.

Re: Programming problem - Powercab

Did you program the original loco's number with the Powercab? I have heard that one of the NCE systems has trouble with higher cv numbers but not with basic address changes. I don't see how, unless the loco was in a consist before, but is there a consist number programmed into CV17? If so set it to ...

Re: 23rd Street

Some more work on the module with the first signals going in. These are my first scratch built signals and still need to be painted, installed and wired to the decoder, hopefully for the next meeting. Re: brass pick-up strips

If it is the straight strip shown on the Kato parts website a strip of brass could be easily ben to the same shape. There are several suppliers of brass strip, such as Eileens https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=category&task=listing&cid=1097&name=nuts-and-...

Re: Yellow stripes

Too late, all but one that normally comes is done or was made with the yellow stripes. If modelling up to date stock it should all be fitted with stripes, 100% had to be done by June 2015.

Yellow stripes

I've started fitting yellow stripes to my UP locos with red stripes. Latest are two SD38-2 locos. The red stripe was too wide so I had to remove it, by scraping and sanding it off. Where it was too light I painted with a grey paint pen which was wiped off quickly filling any scratches. I used Smokeb...

Next are the industries across the other side of the mainline, building supplies and scrap yard.
They have to fit in this space.

Re: 23rd Street

With the buildings painted and weathered, I'm nearing completion of the board plant. I think the loading shed looks far better with the low relief structures, before it stood out as a lone building, now it is part of a larger industry. https://c8.staticflickr.com/8/7533/27801354775_dc82c44dca_o.jpg ...

Re: 23rd Street

I've started on the low relief structures of the board plant. I made the basic blocks from foam core board, easy to cut and glue. Here they are against the profile board. https://c3.staticflickr.com/8/7349/27205388970_2446c1580c_o.jpg I then covered them with styrene sheets, stuck with transfer glue...

Re: 23rd Street

I've finished the roof of Banks Boards (finally named it). I've used the same cladding and sloped roof materials with black card to represent tarred flat areas.
