Re: BN SD9

That is indeed progress if I ever saw some, impressive Brian! I wish I had 10% of your modeling time available, but I guess I need to wait until the kids leave the nest, for starters I'll have their bedrooms for hobby rooms :-) , 10 more years at least I'm guessing :-) Koos It's all been done in ab...

Next up, the number boards, and put back the doors and ladders (one short for the prototype, but that can be remedied l...

Re: BN SD9

Yes perhaps that was the case. As said in this instance I am not too worried, I'm going to attempt to 'mask' it with some weathering . I will have plenty of practice as I have at least 3 locomotives that I want to (re)paint remaining. Looking forward to see the progress on your BN SD9, are you plan...

Re: BN SD9

Looking good so far Brian, just wondering which masking tape you use? I used the yellow masking tape from Tamiya, rubbed down the edges into all nooks and crannies, then added another coat, before proceeding with the darker colour, still got bleed so it puzzled me why it still happened, had heard g...

Re: METRA F40PH HEP sound & driving coach effects

Hi all Am taking delivery on Sat of one of the new HO KATO METRA F40s plus 3 coaches. I'm looking to put sound in the loco and possible some sort of accessory chip to control the coach lighting. Ahead of this I'm after some prototype info: 1. Does the prime mover on the F40 stay constantly at Run 8...

Re: BN SD9

Looking very good Brian, I am not sure why my paint attempt didn't work out as well, but I'm not too worried, practice makes perfect and next time I'm just trying again. BTW, I used Polyscale acrylic paints. Koos I used Pollyscale BN acrylic green and Tamiya acrylic Matt Black. A lot of it is down ...

Re: BN SD9

It's strange how almost "dayglo" the BN Green is. Helped to an extent by spraying it onto white, albeit in four thin coats. I'll let it dry thoroughly, put the masking tape on, spray another coat over the tape, and when dry, move on to the black.

Re: BN SD9

Hi Brian, looking forward to this. (you should really have modeled another railroad with your Long Hood Forward likes :-) ). Let me know how you get on with masking the black etc. I had some paint bleed doing my CFNR SD9, probably because I did not apply enough layers of cream (the colour I was mas...

Re: BN SD9

Hi Brian - nice little project.. Appreciate it's a quick and dirty upgrade but just interested to know whether you stripped the original paint first or just covered it with the grey as a quick initial fix prior to the main coat? I stripped it back to the bare plastic, John, and then I use Warhammer...

Re: DCC loco decoders.

Hi Mike (or others) , do you know if the Loksound file for the EMD 567 engine is a V16 or a V12 engine? i have a GP35 that is still DC, and I want to fit a decoder, and might as well go straight for a sound equipped one, and it's a good candidate to try out an ESU. I can't find the engine detail in...

That's what I am looking for.

I know there are different versions, but you'll have to ask Mike himself.
