Re: Switching area module - a design challenge?
Hi Peter Geoff, I'll get Alan to post some photos of my modules once I have finished them - won't be able to post myself as will no longer be a Region Services member from Monday (long story) so will not have access to the forum. I look forward to seeing you photos, sorry you won't be able to post t...

Re: Switching area module - a design challenge?
Hi Mike Thanks very much, I didn't realise the cement works was rail served until I spun the ariel view 180 degress and I saw it has two spurs a the back of the site. I don't think I'll be weathering my locos quite so heavily! Another mill am reminded of (I have some phots from the Yahoo group) is a...

Re: Switching area module - a design challenge?
Alan/Mike I'm the same and would prefer to see the cars rather then simply push them into a building. If you have a look a the chemical/Kaolin unloading area, see http://goo.gl/maps/aEyhj That is all outside, it is usual to load paper undercover to protect it but I would do as Mike suggests with a b...

Re: Switching area module - a design challenge?
Hello Peter Geoff, I'm also doing a paper mill on my 2 board module. Will be interested to find out more about yours. I got interested in papermills a few years ago when I wanted to find a decent industry for a New England module, I didn't want lots of little industries but wanted loats of car spots...

Re: Switching area module - a design challenge?
Hello Peter I don't want to stray from the topic but, as the original designer of the 8 pin control bus feel it would be useful to explain how it is used on Thamesiders modules. I am not sure I understand the statmenet (For those who are not following Western Union uses Lenz but not XpressNet). Is t...

Re: Switching area module - a design challenge?
Hi Mike Most of the problems were minor track or turnout problems, we did have a microswitch go sometime on Saturday but that was replaced first thign Sunday. On the module: my long term goal is to model a papermill but expect that to be a very large project, this time around I am not fixed on a sin...

Switching area module - a design challenge?
Hi All Following the successful visit of the Essex Belt Lines alyout to Ally Pally last weekend I have become more inspired/fired up (call it what you will) to get on with a module of my own. I am usually working on the wiring and technicals and was the layout troubleshooter last weekend (fortuneatl...

Hi All
I hope to be running JMRI/WiThrottle as well as using the corded Lenz throttles. I'll have the connection details availale if visitng operators would prefer to use that system.
Cheers

Re: Athearn Genesis GP15-1 - How to get the body off?
Hi All Thanks to Mike's advice, a little (less than) gentle persausion and far too many rude words I have removed the body and fitted a Lenz direct decoder. It just needs to be programmed and to have the air tank repaired that I broke off during pat 1 of this disassembly attempt. I very nearly gave ...

Athearn Genesis GP15-1 - How to get the body off?
HI All I've got a couple of Athearn Genesis GP15-1 locos, one with sound and one withiut, The one with sound is great, programmed straight away and in use. However the second one is a different matter. Being a DCC ready one I have to fit a decoder, easy enough I thought but I have not been able to g...

Re: What did it for you?
HI All I've been looking for photos of GP10s and see that there are quite a few still active. I was reading Lance Mindheim's blog a few days ago and see a link he recommended (as part of his December 2nd entry "Picking a theme for your layout") of some pictures of the Arkansas Midland. Hav...

Re: NRE 'Genset II' from Trainman
Hi Guys
I saw the Atlas mailing list this morning, it depends how many numbers they release but I'll be having some. It would be even better if they bring out the 6 axle gensets. Those are huge (not far off as long as a Dash9) but would be a great addition to the roster.

Re: IHB SW1500 switchers
Hi Martyn I have to admit to a oops at this end. I had forgotten that I had finally shelled out for the Morning Sun book on the IHB. (I bought it at the Seaboard Southern show.) Apparently the recent incarnation of the dark livery was originally Brunswick Green (from 1984) but by the late 1980's and...

Re: What did it for you?
Hi Chris
If the finances allow (which, sadly, they probably won't) I might see if I can fins room for a GP10 or two, perhaps there are some still out there with a little known shortline:-) The rebuilds I particularly like are the UP SW10s, I'm not a UP fan but do like those locos.
Cheers

IHB SW1500 switchers
Hi All. I have a collection of Athearn Blue Box SW1500s and following my recent leaning from New England to Chicago area I've decied to look at getting these locos decorated in one of the IHB switcher schemes. I'm looking at both the recent schemes, the current Tennessee Orange and the earlier dark ...
