Layout planning: Batavia, IL

Hi all Having been overtaken with the urge to buy a set of the recent Kato Metra commuter cars and F40PH I now need something to run them on. While I'm planning a 2 unit module for the Seaboard Southern set up that will incorporate a small Metra commuter station I'm also kicking around a plan for an...

Re: NRE 'Genset II' from Trainman

Best bit of news is that the finer handrails sets are to be available as retro parts for the first model esp I had a slot of my Xmas time off allocated to doing a Smokey Valley / brass wire replacement on my BNSF model. Saving me some time there :D

Re: PanPastel

REminds me very much of the weathering kits and tools that Tamiya provides, and the applicators can probably be had quite a lot cheaper at Superdrug or Boots etc. However be aware that when you're testing the various kinds of applicators in the cosmetics isle, depending who you are, the shop staff ...

Re: PanPastel

John

Haven't seen these as they appear to be a new product esp with their limited list of stockists. Would be interested to see how what the pricing for them is given all the various tools and applicators - seems like scope to make your own from cosmetic sponges

Re: Newly announced at Trainfest

Interesting that Accurail have annouced a PS4750 covered hopper. Although the protoype was built in huge numbers for a lot of roads and then subsequently into lessor fleets this car has been done by Intermountain (old model with some inaccuracies) and also more recently Tangent (pricy but accurate +...

Re: The Weathering Magazine

Koos Sorry....was being a little cryptic :) A running feature in both editions has been in inclusion on a couple of pages of a brunette doing a bit of a homage to Lara Croft (from Tomb Raider video game) to suppliment the demo pictures. Prob getting confused betweem 'modelling' and 'modeling'? Cheer...

Looking good so far Brian, just wondering which masking tape you use? I used the yellow masking tape from Tamiya, rubbed down the edges into all nooks and crannies, then added another coat, before proceeding with the darker colour, still got bleed so it puzzled me why it still happened, had heard g...
