I'm interested to know what the various icons that are use on the left of the message subjects signify. The different shapes, and stars and rolling bits and symbols. Is there a glossary?

Off the top of my head...

Normal topics are a simple circle.
"Sticky" topics are sort-of a lightbulb shape.
If you have posted into a topic it adds a star to the circle/lightbulb.
If a topic has been locked it adds a padlock to the circle/lightbulb.

Digging around and looking for other ones - if it's got a vertical scrolling bit it's a "hot" topic with a lot of posts - and on the upper level of the heirarchy, a circle with a little circle denotes that there is a sub-forum there.

And a little arrow to the top left is (the "ghost" of) a moved topic...

Are there any more?

A good question and Martyn has answered them mostly. In fact I'm not entirely certain if that is all of them already.
I've been looking around at the developer of this forum (PHB) but also there there is no easy to find legend on those.
The be absolutely honest, I've never really given them much thought. I tend to go by the title of a post. :-)

Thanks for your posts guys. It's starting to make more sense to me now. I noticed the differences but had no idea what they meant. Now I know.
