me, the best thing has been getting to know so many people. I hope that they will still say hello Mike or gesticulate in some way when we meet.
My thanks to the rest of the B.O.D. for their support, and a special thanks to Region Secretary Steve Park for his guidance on the “must do’s” and “can’t do’s”, and to Roundhouse Editor Martin Boyask and Designer Ian Wilson, not forgetting Tom Winlow for his work on the Directory.
Having mentioned the 2001 Convention earlier, it will soon be time to think about 2002, and also we need a replacement for Contest Chairman Les Herriot and Publicity Officer John Hey. Would all those members interested please get in touch with our new President, Geoff Meek (please don’t fall over each other in the rush!)
Finally, fellow Cyder Belt member Stan Agar moves very soon to Christchurch, New Zealand, with his wife Alison, their dog, car and all of his rolling stock. Stan will be missed not only for his abilities but also his sense of humour and the fact that he always turns up at meetings on time! We wish Stan and Alison good luck, and all success in their new life in New Zealand.
See you at the Convention.
Some good news, the Convention for 2001 is secured. It will be at the Northampton Moat House Hotel on October 26th-28th next year, details to follow.
My thanks to Master Model Railroader Tony Martin for picking up the reins and acting as Convention Chairman. He will be supported by a team from Central and Black Diamonds Divisions.
I thought the early summer meet at Rainhill was first class and well worth the 31/2 hours drive. Plenty of trade stands, layouts and lots of hospitality - fellowship at its best! A few more members at the half-yearly Business Meeting would have been a good thing. Several members said they did not hear the calls given by Geoff Meek and Steve Park, or see the notices placed in the building. This finally pushed the Board of Directors into purchasing a public address system - no excuses now for non-attendance! It should also make John Hey’s dulcet tones even clearer at raffle time.
I can hardly believe this is my final Presidents Car. Whatever happened to the two years? The old saying “the older you get the faster time goes by” is so true! I’ve had a few complaints, one or two words of thanks, but I’ve enjoyed it. For
