Weston-on-Trent is a small village south of Derby. The best way to get there is to take the A50, Derby Southern bypass to the junction with the A514. Exit the A50 and head south SP A514 Swadlincote (opposite direction to Derby). Take first left, after railway bridge, SP Weston-on-Trent, into Swarkestone Road. After about 1.8 miles, the Ukrainian Youth Centre is on the right immediately after the railway bridge, as you enter the village. Village sign for Weston-on-Trent is just after the turn.
Grid Ref for the entrance to the Ukrainian Youth Centre is SK399278 (OS Landranger map sheet 127).
One problem is the remoteness of the location; you will need to use grid references as follows on the main web-based maps: Streetmap.co.uk enter the following OS grid (enter as x,y) 439950,327850.
Multimap.com is not much use unless you navigate to the required grid reference on the Landranger 50K scale map.
Royal Mail give the address details as: Ukrainian Youth Associ- ation, Old Cliffe House, Bridge Lane, Weston-on-Trent, DERBY DE72 2BU.

Yet more new layouts for the Convention. In the last RH we gave you details about five layouts new to Kegworth – here are a few more!
Richard Insley will be bringing his new layout Keighpatt Bay. This HO layout is set in the spring of 1838, and features the Camden & Delaware Railroad. Those of you who know Richard’s work know that this layout will have some of the finest detail possible, it’s worth the trip just to see this layout. Alongside Richard’s layout, Denyse Insley will be demonstrating ‘how to make trees’ – this demonstration will be throughout the weekend.
Paul Devonald will have his 15 ft N scale DCC layout Radstock Falls with us for the first time; this layout has it all, long trains with plenty of variety.
Barrie Foster is building a new HO layout, and to be different it is U-shaped. Also DCC, I can promise you plenty of large steam locos with full sound on this layout. Bring the ear plugs!
The Mountain Lumber Co is a new HO layout by Richard Brooks. 24 ft long, it shows a logging line running through Oregon in the 1960s. Your chance to see Shays, Climaxes, Heislers etc plus some ‘home made’ locos. Add fantastic scenery and buildings, bring your camera for this one.
That’s another four new layouts for Kegworth; we now have a total of 13 layouts promised for the Convention.
In the next issue of RH will be a full list of Traders that will be attending, and a list of the Demos that you will be able to enjoy during the course of the weekend.
By the way, as some members have asked when the AGM will be, it has been set for 9.30 pm on the Friday evening.
Ladies at the Convention
It’s nice to see more Ladies attending the Conventions each year, so we have tried to make this year’s Convention special for the Lady in your life.
Please show her (if she doesn’t already read RH) the following. I am sure we have something for everyone.
The Yew Lodge Hotel has one of the finest Health Club and Spas in the East Midlands. Not only have they offered to give a talk on Aromatherapy, but will give all ladies (and men where appropriate) a 10% discount of the Spa membership prices on any of the treatments, and you have over 30 to choose from. You can of course also work out, and have a swim – that should give you a good appetite for the excellent food that the Yew Lodge will provide.
In the evening (Friday) if you have the energy, we hope to be able to provide Line Dancing. It’s always very popular, and the fellows can take part too.
Saturday, there will be a free trip to the Denby Pottery in Derbyshire. There you have the Denby Factory shop, Cookery Emporium, where you can watch a free cookery demonstration, and get to sample the food. A Glass Studio, Garden Centre, Dartington Factory Shop, Museum, and the Courtyard Restaurant and Coffee Shop – you will need this to rest up, as there is so much to see and do at Denby. Don’t forget your Credit Card, preferably your husband’s? Check out their website, www.Denby. co.uk.
Sunday we hope, depending on the weather, to give you the chance to go on an organised walk around the lovely countryside in the Kegworth area. This has not been finalised yet, but should not be a problem.
