NMRA British Region KEGWORTH GRAND CENTRAL CONVENTION
Yew Lodge Hotel, Kegworth, Leicestershire (Jnc 24 M1)
31 Oct to 2 Nov 2008
DB&B Fri/Sat £260 two sharing – single £150 (only 20 single rooms – first come, first served). The hotel will have 101 rooms by this time next year.
It wasn’t meant to be, but you have got us, Nobby and John, organising the 2008 Convention.
We think it’s about time we went back to BASICS when Conven- tions were put on for the enjoyment of the membership at a reasonable cost to them. Why it has become a race to see which Convention can make the most money, we do not understand.
So, for everyone booking a room before July 2008 (see the page in this issue) FREE REGISTRATION, that’s right FREE, and for those members who want to make their own arrangements, the registration for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday will only be £8 (non-members £10) for the three days. (Work that out: less than £2.70 a day.) Saturday for members will be only £5 each (how cheap is that), spouses and youngsters FREE (non-members/ guests £7).
We hope to have many other pleasant surprises for the membership. Already we have new layouts confirmed, and some new traders. We should have the biggest N scale layout ever seen at a Convention, it will certainly have the longest mainline run. Plus we aim to get as many different layouts as is possible.
We wish to encourage the ladies in your lives to accompany you to the Convention; we had over 50 in 2006, and we think we can do better in 2008, so we will be arranging some special events just for you ladies to enjoy (and possible a few of you fellows). Details will be in RH so please share with the lady in your life.
Everything is coming together for the KEGWORTH GRAND CENTRAL CONVENTION; we will do our best to make sure you all have a GRAND time.
Nobby & John
