  WHAT’S ON & WHERE...
Black Diamonds present a Themed Meet
16 Feb, 10 am–4 pm
Kegworth Village Hall, Nottingham Rd, Kegworth, Leic. DE74 2FH
Layouts
At the time of writing, we have 9 layouts signed up, every one of them new to Kegworth and a couple of totally new ones for you to enjoy, N, HO, O, On30 and hopefully Sn3. We are aiming for at least 12 layouts covering 1906 to 2007; more details in following issues.
Micro layouts
A number of members have raised a few queries regarding the proposed “Micro Layout” section. As I explained in the last issue of Roundhouse, this event will take place on the Saturday in the hotel banqueting room. This means that the layouts will have to be put up after 10 am and removed by 4 pm on the same day. As to the layout size, it has been decided that the maximum length will be 4 ft, while the maximum area will be 8 square ft. The layout can be any size smaller than this, but not bigger.
Another constraint is that the time to set up and get running should be about 15 minutes after arriving in the room.
I hope this clarifies matters and that many members who plan to attend the convention will be tempted to construct a “micro layout”. The early responses are indicating that this will be a bumper convention. Contact me, barriefoster@tiscali.co.uk, or download a booking form from the BR website or chat group website.
Traders, 10 confirmed, with three being new to Kegworth; we are aiming for at least 12 traders, details to come!
Bring and Buy, we can promise at least 30 tables of 4 ft, and more than likely as many as 50. Prices and further details in the next issue of RH.
Digitrax sponsorship for 2008 convention
Digitrax has agreed to sponsor the convention. They have agreed that two of their UKbased chaps to do two clinics, one on DCC now; and the other, who writes and designs all the programs for them, will do a clinic on DCC – the future possibilities!
The NMRA Library will of course be there, so don’t forget to bring those books back that weekend.
Clinics, WOW, looks like 8 and possibly 10 in total, spread over both Saturday and Sunday, again full details to follow!
Ladies, we want you to have a special time at Kegworth (gentle men, please share this with the lady in your life), so as well as the activities that Kay Rudge is organising for you, we have agreed a 10% discount with the Reeds Health Club & Spa within the Yew Lodge Hotel; this covers such things as Facial Treatments, Aro matic Spa Mosaic Body Treatment, Body Massage, Manicures and Pedicures, Waxing, Brow and Lash Treatments, Reflexology, and more, not forgetting the Swimming Pool and Gym. So why not pamper yourselves while the men are busy playing trains! The 10% Discount Voucher should be sent with your Registration Confirmation. (Please contact John Firth if you do not get one.) We have something special planned for Friday night! As it’s Hallowe’en, we plan to do something for everyone to enjoy and get involved with.
See the April issue of RH for some more exciting details of the Kegworth Grand Central 08.

NMRA British Region Kegworth Grand Central Convention 2008
The weekend of 31 October to 2 November.
Yew Lodge Hotel, Kegworth. Jnc 24 M1
If you haven’t booked for what is looking like yet another record breaking Convention at Kegworth, please do so to avoid possible disappointment. Within 3 weeks of the Copdock Convention, we had 40 bookings, and now at time of writing (early December 2007) we already have 71 bookings (54 rooms). So use the book ing form enclosed or you can download it from the BR website www.nmrabr.org – send it soon!
It’s time to give something back, so with that in mind, it’s FREE REGISTRATION when you book your room before 1 July – that’s a saving of £11 per person on 2007 prices, and there are twin rooms available, so sharing can save you even more money (more towards those locos).
