NMRA British Region: Winter Meet
9 January 2010
The 2010 winter meet will be held on Saturday 9 January 2010 at the Benson Village Hall.
Dealers and those setting up layouts will have access from 08:00 and the meet will run from 10:00 until 16:00.
Benson is approximately 9 miles south of Oxford on the Oxford–Reading road A4074. As you approach the village from the north, turn left by the ‘BP’ fuel stop onto the A4009, Watlington Road. The hall is second on the left as you pass through the village. There is ample parking at the venue.
Our friendly and eager dealers will all be there, including: Americantrains.co.uk (N gauge), Back 2 Bay 6 (Garden Railways), Brian’s Trains (secondhand etc), Brian White (his bibs and bobs), Jason Dickie (O scale), LSWR (HO and N + Books), Page Components (tools etc), Railroad Trading (HO and N + Books), Richard Maxwell (brass locos), Ted Smale (Digitrax) and SPV (DVDs and books).
In addition, we hope to have a good range of layouts. Those booked so far include: Worcester N gauge and their N gauge modular layout; Peter Borcherds’ Rochelle Intermodal; Andy Nibbs’ ATSF layout and Richard Insley’s Keighpatt Bay. Denyse Insley will be giving her well- known tree construction demonstration. Also, Dave Dawes will be bringing his Z Scale ‘California Coast’. All these are really worth seeing. We hope to have more layouts, including ‘O’ scale, but are still awaiting confirmations.
The BR library will be available throughout the day, and Marie’s Kitchen (otherwise known as Marie Ingham) will be providing a wide range of home-cooked food. There will be hot and cold sandwiches, appetising hot two- course lunches and delicious homemade cakes and pies. Hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the day – served in the dining area. Please support her, as it saves you having to bring sandwiches! There will also be a number of bring and buy tables.
Further details and directions can be had from Robin Swan at 0118 979 2448 or Michael Ingham at 0118 987 2707.
We look forward to seeing you all.

The BIG News for the 65th ANNIVERSARY
CONVENTION AT KEGWORTH
The Six Five Special is to be held over the weekend of 22–24 October 2010 at the Yew Lodge Hotel.
The Convention is being
sponsored by MODEL JUNCTION, and THANKS to STEWART of Model Junction, Pelle Soelberg and Peter Marriott will be with us for the whole weekend to give clinics, and do book signing.
Following on from our last Convention, with the same aim of “GIVING SOMETHING BACK” to the membership, there will be free REGISTRATION again for all who book a room before the end of July 2010 (remember we sold out in 2006 well before then, so don’t miss out).
Registration forms will be in the December and February issues of Roundhouse for those who missed them at Swindon. And for those members who prefer to visit just for the Saturday, the SPECIAL PRICE of just £3 for the day (spouses and children under 16 FREE). If you are local, a three-day pass, Friday, Saturday and Sunday JUST £5. SUNDAY WE WILL BE OPEN 9.30 until 3 pm. Yes, 3 pm, and the entrance fee for the Sunday is only £2 for members. Now that’s giving something back. We don’t believe a convention is all about making a profit, but friendship and enjoyment, so book early.
We already have over 15 layouts promised, and at least 12 traders, and for the first time, we will be running MODELLING WITH THE MASTERS plus CLINICS . . . live DEMONSTRATIONS throughout the convention weekend, details in next issue of RH. A new Diorama Contest 12" × 12" (1 foot square) – must have something railway- orientated on it, the rest is up to you, there will be prizes for the first three places in a popular vote.
Do not miss any issue of Roundhouse for all the latest information, we have so many new items and ideas to share with you all. One thing is certain – you will remember this 65th Anniversary Convention, and for all the right reasons.
John Hey and Nobby Clarke
