NMRA British Region: “Not the Winter Meet”
on 26 June 2010 will be held at the Benson Village Hall.
This is to replace the sadly missed “Arden Rail” and the snowed
off Benson “Winter Meet”.
Dealers and those setting up layouts will have access from 08:00 and the meet will run from 10:00 until 16:00.
Benson is approximately 9 miles south of Oxford on the Oxford– Reading Road A4074. As you approach the village from the North turn left by the ‘BP’ fuel stop onto the A4009 Watlington road. The hall is second on the left as you pass through the village. There is ample parking at the venue.
There is a bus route that stops near the petrol station. It is the X39/X40 Reading to Oxford bus. The times are (as at April 2010): 05 and 30 from Reading Station and 20 and 50 past the hour from St Aldates in Oxford.
Our friendly and eager dealers will be there, including Americantrains.co.uk (N gauge), Back 2 Bay 6 (Garden Railways), Brian Trains (secondhand etc), Brian White (his bibs and bobs), Jason Dickie (O Scale), LSWR (HO & N + Books), Page Components (tools etc), Railroad Trading (HO & N + Books), Richard Maxwell (brass locos), Ted Smale (Digitrax) & SPV (DVDs and books).
We hope to have a good range of layouts. Those booked so far include: Worcester N gauge modular layout, Peter Borcherds’ Rochelle Intermodal, Andy Nibbs and Richard Insley. Mrs Insley will be giving her wellknown tree construction demonstration.
The BR library will be available throughout the day and Rose’s Kitchen (otherwise known as Clarke the Younger) will provide a selection of hot and cold filled rolls, hot and cold drinks and biscuits in the dining area.
There will also be a number of bring and buy tables.
Further details and directions can be had from Nobby Clarke at 01604 415020, Robin Swan at 0118 979 2448 or Michael Ingham at 0118 987 2707.
We look forward to seeing you all.

TIME (Totally Interactive Modelling Event)
Saturday 10 July 2010
Watford Community Technical College, Tolpits Lane, West Watford, Hertfordshire WD18 6NS
This event has been organised by the Chiltern Model Railway Association.
The CMRA is an umbrella organisation of 145 model railway clubs and societies stretching from Bristol in the West to Gt Yarmouth in the East and from the Isle of Wight in the South to Preston in the North.
The event is a day for any member of a club or society that is a member of the CMRA to come along and show us their expertise in building locos, baseboards, scenery, in fact anything to do with the hobby of model railways. Or they can come along to see what others can do and listen to the talks presented by an invited selection of people associated with railways, model and 12" to the foot, and talk to the invited demonstrators to see how they can improve their own techniques.
Invited speakers this year are as follows: David Brown, formerly editor on BRM Jim Connor, publisher of transport books Rob Bishop on electrics in the exhibition Christopher Payne, the disability act.
Invited demonstrators are:
Jerry Freestone, card modelling
Dr Michael Watts, who is bringing all or part of his latest layout to show his improvements to his baseboard construction – this follows on from his talk last year
Jonathan Hall on resin castings.
Apart from the invited demonstrators many modellers join us for the day and bring their latest project along. This can be loco, wagon and carriage construction, setting coupling standards, baseboards complete or in construction.
The day is aimed at modellers.
If there are any clubs who are not in the CMRA and would like to join us on the day, they should get in touch with either David Crossley on david@dhcrossley.com or John Doyland on john. doyland@ntlworld.com so that they can receive an official invitation.
Seaboard Southern Show
The annual show of the Crawleybased Seaboard Southern Division of the NMRA is well advanced with a return to the Holbrook Club in Horsham, West Sussex RH12 5PJ. Being held on 25 September 2010, the event has a new management team.
