“In order to make the 2010 show even better, and given our limited resources, we needed to rethink our approach,” said Alan Crooks, the new Club Chairman. “We need to show both devoted US prototypical fans and a much wider audience, of the developments within the hobby, much of it driven by the NMRA. We want to develop our annual show to be one of the best in the UK devoted exclusively to the American Railroad.”
The centrepiece will be Essex Belt Lines (HO), a 30 ft × 20 ft modular layout supported by Eight Dollar Canyon (HO), Lakeside (HO) and at least eight others. N Scalers are not forgotten, with the newly expanded Rochelle Intermodal leading the way. Traders will also be present with LSWR (The Penguin) also acting as a major sponsor of the event. “Without sponsorship, we could not put on the size of exhibition we are planning,” said Richard Harreiter, Manager of the event. “The costs of fuel and van hire for larger layouts make it impossible for smaller clubs to run these events and provide a different display each year. We are truly grateful to our sponsors and, with their support, we can start to consider layouts from further North and even from Europe.”

NMRA-BR CONVENTION
22, 23 and 24 October 2010
Yew Lodge Hotel, Kegworth, Leicestershire
SPONSORED by MODEL JUNCTION
WOW! are things hotting up!! Join us for the British Region 65th Anniversary Convention “The Six Five Special”, sponsored by Model Junction.
Rooms: we are nearly sold out, 92 rooms sold to date (April); we have arranged a very nice overspill Hotel for you, The White House, just 100 yds down the road so just a short walk to the Yew Lodge. You will be told when you Register if you are to be in the White House hotel. Who said Kegworth was boring?
Don’t forget, you only get FREE REGISTRATION WHEN YOU BOOK A HOTEL ROOM and ONLY WHEN YOU BOOK A ROOM, as per December’s RH.
We have the most Clinics and Demonstrations ever seen at a BR Convention, we believe. We will have three Modelling with the
Masters Special Events running on Friday afternoon 2 pm onwards and again on Sunday morning; read more about these elsewhere in this edition of Roundhouse and make sure you book a place, strictly limited numbers, plus ongoing Demonstration by Traders and British Region members, throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Layouts
Those of you with long memories will remember the HO layout Avery? Well we are please to say its has now been completely refurbished, and is ready for the Six Five Special. The good news is, members are welcome to run their locos and trains on the layout in after hours running sessions. Please make your intentions known to Patrick Grace, or other members of the group beforehand. Also good news from Calder Northern, their new 24 × 8 HO layout has a name now, “North Western Mill”, and will also be equipped with the latest NCE DCC system direct from NCE through their Club Incentive Scheme, and provided through Bromsgrove Models; other Divisions may like to look at this scheme as a way forward to introducing DCC to their layouts. Don’t forget you will also be able to run your locos and trains on this layout as well; again seek permission from the operators first.
Ladies
We are very pleased to say Ellen Millett is the nonrail coordinator for the SFS; she will be writing to all you Ladies separately with our programme of events and ideas specially designed just for you, and we think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Bring & Buy
No need to prebook your B&B table as we have over 50 tables available, but if you prefer to, then contact our new B&B Supervisor Barrie Foster on 01332 812259 – just £6 per 4 ft table. B&B will be open from Fri afternoon 2 pm and again all day Sat with the possibility of some for Sun. We would like to say a big thank you to Tony Dunbar who managed the B&B room at the last two Kegworths. Sadly he is unable to do so this time around.
12 × 12 Contest
There is still plenty of time to build your 12" × 12" diorama for the Contest; remember there are prizes for the top three in a popular vote by the members. Prize will be provided by LSWR Models. Forms for this Contest are on the website; remember you will need to prebook your entry with Nobby Clarke (address in Directory) so we have some idea on numbers coming so we can make sure we have enough tables.
Contest
You still have plenty of time to get your models into the main Contest, and win awards, and maybe get on that Achievement Program Award Ladder. All this and up to 16 layouts and 12 traders, what a weekend.
