Any members who are modelling or have an interest in the Milwaukee Road might be interested in contacting member Guy Hardy. Guy is the UK organiser of the Milwaukee Road Histori cal Society and is an O scale modeller of that road. He would be very pleased to hear from any CMSP&P modellers out there. Guy is on 01646 692254; his email is
cawdronhardy@gmail.com.
John Fish came up with an intriguing idea for diorama builders, suggesting that movies with a wellknown railroad con nection be used as themes for diorama scenes. He suggests, for example, “Heat of the Night”, “Bad Day at Black Rock”, “Last Train to Gun Hill”, “3.10 to Yuma”, “The General”, and so on. (I immediately thought of the epic “Emperor of the North” too but, as John says, there are many, many more.) Possibly a future “informal” contest class?
From the Editor
Near the end of September I enjoyed a sunny drive up to Horsham to see the excellent Seaboard Southern show. Numerous fine layouts ranged from Dave Dawes’s Z scale California Coast up to O scale and On30 in the form of Pine Bluffs and Bed Springs Creek. A great atmosphere surrounded the mass of traders and layouts and a good crowd of visitors. The show was highly successful both in terms of attendance and (naturally therefore) income, and was further bolstered by the good news regarding Seaboard’s location of a new club home after the catastrophic fire at the old premises.
I personally found the day at Holbrook Club a great “appetiser” for the Convention which, as I write, is only three weeks hence.
In addition, if anyone has an accurate model of any of these vehicles, could they photograph the underbody for him or possibly bring it along to Kegworth for him to photograph.
