Meriden 2013 Convention contests
There were in fact two contests going on at the Meriden convention: the formal, judged contest which includes the Achievement Program content, and a less formal popular vote contest for small dioramas and for photos. Some snappers had hedged their bets, too, by including the same images in both!
In the formal contests, we had a few more entries than in some previous years. They were of a good standard, which was very encouraging. In the model categories, we had 13 entries spread over several classes. The owners of 11 of these models went away with Merit Awards, including every single model placed 1st to 3rd.
Here’s the listing of the winners and placings:

Kathy Millatt’s Bordello was the Best in Show, with 104 points.
The photos were just two classes, as is really to be expected these days, with 18 entries. I don’t expect that we’ll see many more slides, and few if any B&W photos in the future.
Thanks must go to the contest judges, too: Keith Webb, Terry Wynne, Vernor Bates, Jonathan Small and Tim Watson.
