Calder Northern Division . . .
. . . are hosting one of their muchenjoyed twoday Themed Train Show events at Crewe Heritage Centre on the weekend of October 4 (Saturday) and 5 (Sunday). There will also be a Saturday evening dinner at Crewe Arms Hotel. You will remember we had to regrettably cancel our show last year due to a number of issues at the Heritage Centre, but we are pleased to say these are now resolved very amicably. To date we have 8 confirmed layouts plus 5 other layouts in the negotiation stages. Those confirmed are mainly HO scale but with the like lihood of two being On30 layouts. We have a bookseller con firmed and there will be bring & buy tables. Calder Northern’s two layouts will also be operating in the North Junction Signal Box. In addition to the Train Show, the Heritage Centre attractions will be there for all to enjoy – three signal boxes, APT, Diesel and Steam locomotives and of course the miniature railway. We are also going to have the “be a driver for a fiver” again where you get the opportunity to drive (under guidance!) the Class 03 diesel shunter.
Hours of opening will be 10 am till 4 pm each day and, for those bringing layouts, setup can be from noon on Friday afternoon or from 8 am on the Saturday morning. There will be catering available and also drinks and light refreshments in North Junction Signal Box. Entry is £5 for adults, £2 for children. For those wishing to come for the weekend, the rate for a room including bed & breakfast at Crewe Arms Hotel, which is currently in the process of a complete refurbishment including installation of a lift, which will make things a lot easier this time, is £45 for a single room or £59.50 for either twin or double. Premier Inns and Travelodge also have accommodation very close by and convenient to the railway station.
For those wishing to make reservations for a room at Crewe Arms Hotel or for the Saturday evening meal, would they please email Terry Wynne at T_WYNNE@sky.com or telephone 01270 567050 and Terry will coordinate all bookings with the hotel to avoid any problems.
Further details will be announced as soon as possible and will appear in the next Roundhouse magazine. You can also keep up to date on what is happening with our event as well as the activities and events at Crewe Heritage Centre by going to www. creweheritagecentre.co.uk
