Another Mike Hughes picture from the Weston Modular Meet
It’s an early summer morning in the year of 1954 on Southern Pacific’s Coast Line; our photographer has just managed to catch a very late-running Train #919, probably the San Francisco Manifest, as it drifts downgrade out of Tunnel 21 with a clean stack. Two Maintenance-of-Way workers acknowledge the head-end crew, and they’ll automatically check the train for any defects as it rumbles past them.
