A story in pictures of the rebuilding of
a Sunset Models Southern Pacific F1

Photos 1 & 2 are the loco as it arrived – the
tender is not shown. As the model comes it is
basically #3611 but with the wrong tender (I
knew this when I bought it). That left me with
two options – acquire the correct tender, a large
whale back that's almost impossible, or find
photos of both sides of another F1. This was the chosen option. I enquired about finding photos of #3620 and managed to find one from Arnold Menke and one of the other side from friend Adrian Thornber.
Photos 3 & 4 – the rebuilt loco before cleaning up and painting.
Photos 5 & 6 – #3620 as painted and weathered. It's not perfect but it's not bad and I am happy with it!
