From Ron Gager
Four NMRA-BR members of the Bexhill Model Railway Club had an amazing demo. by our expert Colin Bennett at his twice monthly DCC lecture session.
Having bought from (yes, you guessed it) a Chinese source, for a mere £24, a tiny video camera, with a large depth of field response, and a built in Wi Fi connection, he proceeded to run it on an an HO chassis and we viewed the output on his laptop. Controlling the chassis with his mobile phone we were "in the cab" controlling the "train". How more real can you get?
The camera fits easily into anything HO, but the lithium battery that comes with it was a bit large. So, he is sourcing a smaller battery or two to build up the rest of the chassis. The only downside is the way this shows up the imperfections in your scenery!

From Michael Ingham:
Freedom of the Region.
The BoD has seen fit to award me the honour of “Freedom of the Region" for services rendered over the past few years. For this, I and my daughters, who also help, are very grateful.
What we have done has been no hardship, it has been and will continue to be a pleasure. Thank you all.

From John Knight
It strikes me that a lengthy discourse on DCC systems is not "Sharing the Knowledge" since DCC information is already available from many other sources, including commercial ones. How many members is DCC relevant to anyway?
The Denver and Rio Grande (amongst many other lines) had extensive narrow gauge systems and HOe makes an ideal representation of 2ft gauge in HO. But from where can one obtain a Shay or a Mallet (or come to that any) loco in this size? That would indeed be "Knowledge"! Also there is the vexed question of scale and gauge. 3.5mm\ft is a scale and HO is a gauge whatever our American cousins maintain. There is no reason to continue this error just because we model American prototypes.
Do you have a particular modelling skill or area of expertise? Would you be prepared to share it with others? Clinicians are sought for the NMRA British Region Convention in October. If you would be prepared to give a clinic, please let Steve Quick know by e-mail
stephen.quick3@ntlworld.com or tel. 07914 633076
For those who are interested, delivery at the convention could count towards the achievement programme qualifications for author and / or association volunteer.

It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Ian Trivett passed away peacefully on the evening of 4th February 2017 following a battle
with pneumonia.
Many of us knew him through his activities at the Nottingham Model Railway Society where he held the post of Exhibition Manager for many years.
A great character, he will be greatly missed by us all.
Information regarding funeral arrangements will follow in due course, please pass this message on to anyone who knew Ian.
