Welcome to the April issue of Roundhouse which continues to grow and receive favourable comments from both sides of the Atlantic:
“Thank you so very much for such an exquisitely laid out ‘Parade of Presidents
- a tribute to Derek Frow’. I love how you have so thoughtfully used the photos and set everything out so beautifully. I am so very grateful to you for all that you do for the NMRA British Region. You have raised the standard of Roundhouse immeasurably. It not only looks fabulous but your care and thoughtfulness in commissioning articles and your judgments of balancing prototype and modelling articles is impeccable” says David McLaughlin, NMRA BR President.
“Congratulations on the wonderful job you’re doing with Roundhouse. Publishing such a high quality magazine six times a year in color is nothing short of amazing given the limited budgets most regions have to deal with. Martin set high standards and, I’m sure BR members appreciate that you are continuing that tradition. I know I do”, says Jim Zinser MMR, Division Business Car Column, NMRA National Magazine.
Dr Andrew Panko in Canada writes, “I have been a member of the NMRA for the last 40+ years and have to tell you, your publication Roundhouse is superlative with respect to all of the NMRA magazines I have received over the years.”
Contributing editor Bob Hughes says, “the February 2018 Roundhouse arrived in perfect condition today in Rhode Island. Thank you, the magazine looks terrific, and I hope your members enjoyed the Maine Central Education article if there is anything they are curious about regarding railroading in the American Northeast, please do not hesitate to email me at bhughes914@gmail.com.”
“Received your magazine in the mail a few days ago - got so caught up in reading it that I forgot to let you know! It’s very nicely produced. I particularly liked the article on multimeters as the instructions that came with mine are set in very tiny type and are obviously not model railroad specific”, says Craig Cooper at Dallas Model Works.
This edition’s cover photo was taken 30 years ago by Dave Howard of the Niagara Division of the CRHA (Canadi-
an Railway Historical Association). Established in 1932, the CRHA is the most senior Canadian railway enthusiast organization devoted to preserving and interpreting Canada’s railway heritage, which its founders and members have safeguarded from coast to coast.
Please look carefully at the envelope that Roundhouse was posted in to see when your membership is due for re- newal. The annual membership renewals process is well underway and recently with the generous help of Chris James, David McLaughlin and James Lucas we are tackling the process head on and making a huge job manageable but we always welcome volunteers to make this organisation even better so if you want to lend a hand please get in touch.
