Peter (Pete) Pedlow has passed away. Peter was a long time member of the NMRA and many of you will remember his N gauge model of the Feather River Line. Peter, a surgeon by trade, brought his meticulous skills to Railroad Mod- elling, including the scratch building of the bridges on the Feather River layout which he exhibited at a number of BR conventions.
I would like to introduce myself, Robert Henworth, as the recently appointed Roundhouse Advertising Manager, taking over from Jonathan Small who I am told has done a sterling job over the last twelve years.
I am relatively new to the hobby of Railway Modelling and American out- line in general and HO Freemo in par- ticular. Currently a member of a local
modelling club, I also have an interest in electronics for model railways. In my pursuit of knowledge and under- standing I have sought out my nearest local NMRA division in the Midlands, attended the National Convention and the Benson Winter Meet. I am now retired, having worked in manufactur- ing in the West Midlands for 45 years.
In taking on the role of Roundhouse Advertising Manager, I have looked at our advertisers’ websites and discov- ered a wealth of information available and would encourage members to explore what is available. Many offer newsletters and it’s also possible to follow them on Twitter and Facebook. A lot of members may not be using Social Media, but it can be a very sim- ple means of communication, especially to inform followers of new products and developments, plus to advise when the advertiser is going to be at a show.
Remember, if you see someone at a
show or place an order with a supplier that has an ad in our magazine, please tell them. This feedback encourages them to continue supporting us.
The Roundhouse Magazine Team, are looking to develop advertisers who can offer services and products that are of related interests to modelling, as well as to expand the number of trade advertisers. This is to complement the quality of the magazine that is now produced by Peter Bowen. I would very much appreciate any input from members with suggestions of potential opportunities for new advertisers.
By introducing new advertisers to complement existing suppliers, Round- house can become a useful directory of information and at the same time increase the financial input to the NMRA British Region.
