As you read this last issue of Round- house for 2019 it is a good time to look back on a year that has been a challenge for all of us in one way or another and as the year rattles by we look forward to an exciting new year of railroading.
The NMRA exists through the gener- ous gifts of volunteers giving their time to make it better for all of us, but now more than ever “we need your help” to keep this organisation alive and well.
Please consider giving your time to lend a hand in 2020 - it is going to be the 75th anniversary of the British Region and we need your help to celebrate the occasion and make it better for all of us.
Please contact your local division rep- resentative see page 29 for listings and contact details.
We enjoyed a wonderful regional convention in Aberdeen hosted by the Scottish Division in September and it is at events like this that one of the great- est benefits of membership comes alive - fellowship and meeting with old and new friends in the railroading community.
At one of the first regional conventions I attended on my own many years ago in Meriden, Solihull, I did not know anyone as I struggled to carry a large structure
I had made to enter into the achieve- ment program judging and none other
than Alain Kap MMR helped me carry
it in and that was the start of lasting friendship. I aslo had breakfast with Les Dobbs (92 years young) who I had never met before but we shared a common interest in the D&RGW narrow gauge railroad and every year at the regional conventions Les is the the first to greet me saying “I have something for you” and every year he brings me a calendar for the following year from the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad which he visits each year and I look at every day and
I am reminded of the friendship I have found through the NMRA.
So I again ask for your help in making the NMRA British Region the best railroad- ing organisation in the United Kingdom.
