 This year’s Convention was held at the Hallmark Hotel,Aberdeen Airport.This is the first time a Convention has been held in Scotland and what a success it turned out to be. 62 members registered for the weekend and a further 11 mem- bers registered on the Saturday.
Firstly I must thank the following traders who came to support the Convention. N Scale Laser, Protocab,The Model Tree Company, KMS Railtech,Anglo-American Model Railways, Sunningwell Command Control Ltd, and Neals N-Gauging Trains. Your support was really appreciated.
Secondly I must thank members who provided layouts. 2nd Hand Yard, O scale 2 rail, Hills Country, N scale, Horseshoe Curve, N scale, HO Freemo, HO scale, and Digby South Quay, HO scale.
I must also thank the GNSR Association for putting on the tour of Aberdeen
on Friday. Finally I must also thank the members who put on Clinics for our enjoyment.A particular thank you must go to Ralph Renzetti for his live interac- tive clinic on Friday evening,Workbench to mainline-Weathering A to Z. It was attended by around 40 members with a brief Q and A at the end. Excellent.
On Saturday afternoon Atlantic Director Mike Arnold gave a presentation on the progress of the the National NMRA 2022 Convention to be held in the UK. The NMRA BR AGM was held in ac- cordance with our Constitution and the MInutes will be available on the website and App in due course. For those who do not have internet access we will post the agenda and minutes upon request.
At the banquet, I took the opportunity to thank everybody who attended the Convention and the hotel staff for their polite and friendly service over the three days. On the Friday evening I made a point of asking to speak to the chef and personally thanked him and his staff for the enjoyable food they prepared for us.
A very special thank you to Gordon Robinson (Gordy) and his team for organising an enjoyable Convention. It takes time, effort, and planning, so thank you on behalf of the British Region.
Next year’s Convention will be held at the Derby Conference Centre over the weekend of 23rd to 25th October 2020.
