Happy New Year to all of our members, readers and supporters of the NMRA British Region. 2020 is the 75th Anniver- sary of the region and it is going to be a great year with lots of model railroading.
The Model Tree Shop (see their ad on page 23) are sponsoring a Square Foot Challenge of any railroad-related scene in any scale, any era, any theme, that must fit on to a board that is no larg-
er than a square foot 12” x 12” in old money (304.8mm x 304.8mm) that must include some of their scenic material, to be judged at the Derby Convention 23-25 October 2020 with a prize of a £50 gift voucher. This is a great oppor- tunity for everyone to give modelling
in a small space a try, be as creative as you can for this 75th Anniversary model railroading challenge.
Chris James has been beavering away in the background rebuilding and sort-
ing out the member database on the website to make the annual renewals process work smoothly and allow us to accurately keep track of member details in addition to being able to report this
to National. It also makes managing your membership an easier process as we
try to juggle 500+ members renewing, joining and changing their details.
We are now streamlining the whole membership renewal process to make it easier for members to renew and new members to join, plus save the region costs and an enormous amount of man- hours. Your membership renewal date is shown on the envelope that this issue was sent in. Existing members will receive an email about
a month before their membership is due to expire, inviting them to log in and renew online. We will write to those members who do not have email addresses. There will no doubt be a few teething problems as the new arrange- ments are phased in so please bear with us if things are not perfect initially!

The new website as reported in the November/December issue has been completely redesigned - a big thank you to David McLaughlin for helping me sort out the main navigation categories of the website build at nmrabr.co.uk and vari- ous members who are contributing their
time to review and edit the content to ensure that it is up to date and provides value to all members and visitors - if there is something you don’t like or if there is anything missing then please let me know so we can correct it.
The new website contains a wealth of information and many items which I must confess I did not know existed, for example did you know that there are retailers providing NMRA British Region members with discounts?
