ROUNDHOUSE PUBLISHER
75th Anniversary Cover
During the Lockdown I commissioned Brian Moore to create a cover that depicted in his own photographic style 75 years of railway modelling. The result is in my opinion a true interpreta- tion of how our hobby and model railways have evolved and I want to thank Brian for his continuing support of the NMRA British Region.
Richard Maxwell
As reported in the last issue of Roundhouse, some members are assisting Richard’s family in cataloguing his incredible collection of brass models. He did not just sell brass trains for mem- bers and other modellers; he was a serious collector himself. Peter Gibbs,Tom Watson and Mike Arnold have been collating all the information they can on models held for sale for members and others, as well as on Richard’s own collection. They will assist the family in returning brass mod- els to their owners and ask that any member with models still held by Richard get in touch with either Peter,Tom or Mike, with full details of what they believe Richard held for them.
Richard’s own collection will of course be sold and the family have decided that it should go to an auction house. We will advise in due course where the details of the auction can be found, for those interested in acquiring any of his collection.
2021 Model Railway Layout Challenge
I would like to feature members model railway layouts in 2021 that show how track, buildings and scenery all come together to create a layout that works. So can you please start thinking about writing a max of 1200 words that describe your layout, what you wanted to achieve, the relationship of track, buildings and scenery and what types of motive power and freight traffic etc. I will need photos to illustrate your story as well as a track plan.
The article should be about the layout itself and not get into how you wired it etc. If you operate it with car cards or time tables then a short piece on this is good. The intent is to feature this as a 3 page article after the B2B section in Roundhouse. Copy deadlines are: 1st January, 1st March, 1st May, 1st July and 1st September2021.
Please let me know when you could get the content to me and I can schedule your article into the content calendar for 2021 and please send everything by www.wetransfer.com to editor@ nmraroundhouse.co.uk
Virtual Events and Meetings
On behalf of the NMRA British Region Board of Directors and myself I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Gordy Robinson for his vision and delivery of this summer’s wonderful presentations on Facebook andYouTube with assistance from other NMRA mem- bers in Australia and the United States. In addition he continues to host Brew and Natter on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. This is an opportunity for members to interact with each other, ask questions, give how to clinics and generally keep in touch and share know-how.
Convention and AGM Update
As you will know the 2020 NMRA Bristish Region Annual Convention has been cancelled. How- ever, we are pleased to announce a virtual convention and Annual General Meeting will be held via a virtual convention and members will be notified of joining details by email and post.
Oakley Reads Roundhouse
2 year-old Oakley Ambrose grabs Roundhouse before Dad Jason Ambrose can even get a look. Already a con- firmed Model Railroader, he can handle an NCE throttle well. He models Fisher-Price,Thomas the Tank,Trackmas- ter and G-scale, but also likes The Milwaukee Road, Pacific Extension in HO says his Grandad Andy Ambrose.
Many thanks to David McLaughlin and Jonathan Small who proofread Roundhouse before printing and checks the words finding things that I may have missed.
