Re: DJH USRA Light Mikado - which Romford wheels fit?
I'd ask Martin Boyask for some advice at the Convention.

Re: brass pick-up strips
It's the sort of part that would be SO rare to have lying around as a spare, even if you had the loco. For example, I've got three Athearn Genesis GP9s. Don't have any spare parts for any. I'd have to go to the US manufacturer for any spares. The chance of anyone in the UK, never mind on this forum,...

Re: Civil War Layouts
If you put the words "Civil War" (keeping the inverted commas), layout and HO into Google and click, you'll find loads of stuff. It's a niche modelling subject, but lots of people have done various things, and will have travelled the path and done the learning about what's available. Good ...

I've always found AMB kits a pleasure to build, and I look forward to seeing yours when done.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Re: Rocky mountaineer
If you put "Rocky Mountaineer" (in inverted commas) and "N Scale" (ditto) into Google and press Enter, you'll find a load of stuff. Whilst some isn't wholly recent, you'll get an idea both of what is commercially available, and what other people have done. Then repeat the process...

Re: Great Northern Caboose kit
I've just put the words "Great Northern" (in inverted commas), caboose and 439 into Google, and immediately found this big, ongoing post. Too long for me to read it further, but I see pictures of trucks. http://www.modeltrainforum.com/showthread.php?t=22343 There are several GN internet gr...

Re: Bachmann RF16 conversion to Sound
Shouldn't be any particular problem in hard-wiring a sound decoder in there. Here's one that somebody did earlier:

Completely agree with Mike - DCC is the way to go. You'll only regret it a couple of years hence if you don't do it now. And before you start to add too many locomotives.

Re: My First Layout - N Gauge Denesport & Lesley Falls
Good work, Dean. My now-dismantled HO loft layout used "British-style" Peco Code 75 throughout, as it was built before they released the US Code 83. Once ballasted, it looked fine. I took lots of pictures and videos of it and I never had a single comment about "the track looking funny...

SD&AE 103
Due to the lack of appropriate Southern Pacific 2-8-0s in plastic, I've been dabbling with converting the good-running and reliable Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 to something more "SP". SD&AE was a leased SP C-9. Compromises include the retention of the straight-sided cylinders, too-short st...
