It came from eBay. I'll dig out the link later.
The wiring is straightforward and for the mechanical connection you could use either a length of model aeroplane fuel line or some brass tubing, depending on what you have to hand.

Re: Athearn rotary snow plow
Yes; I've got one that I've fitted with a micro-motor and 30:1 reduction gearbox. There's obviously plenty of room inside the shell for a chip, and a speaker if you want to go down that route. I have mine semi-permanently coupled to a "snail", in this case an Athearn F7B without motor or w...

Book Review - The Southern Pacific's Los Angeles Division
This book was written by John Signor, arguably the finest author on the late Southern Pacific, and was published last year by the Southern Pacific Historic and Technical Society. The change of imprint has had a number of adverse effects upon the book's presentation: those produced by Signature Press...

JMRI and Intermountain incompatibility?
I'm using some of my holiday (Yes, I know I timed it badly) to add locos to my JMRI roster. The first handful went on without any problems - a Broadway Blueline AC6000, a Tower 55 ES44AC, Athearn Blue Box GP40 and a Balboa Mk5 2-8-2 - but JMRI reported a short circuit when trying to interrogate an I...

EsPee Rapido B36-7 - Initial thoughts
Just in time for Christmas it's arrived! There was a minor panic as the first example was a plain-vanilla (analogue) model rather than the full-fat (DCC sound, lights etc.) one but Rapido shipped the correct one and I picked it up last Sunday. There are two minor issues with the model - the rear UDE...

Re: Making decals
Calder Northern now has samples of their decals, while an individual member has a set of H0 white decals for the Colorado Midland's freight stock.

Re: SCALETRAINS Tunnel Motor
Koos,
It's a really nice model out-of-the-box, and now that the UDE light is on <F6> rather than <F14>, it's even better. Can we have an SD45T-2 now?

Re: Making decals
If anyone wants a sample of the decals - either a set of Data elements or 4 sets of car numbers - please send me an SAE, and advise on which set you want. My contact details are in the Directory.

Re: Making decals
I now have produced sample sheets of both Railroad Roman and Railroad Gothic data elements for box-cars available on legal (8.5" by 11") decal paper, comprising numbers from 1 to 12 for the month/inch and 00 through 99 for the year/foot plus "CAPY", "LD LMT", "LT W...

Re: Making decals
Can you just swap between black and white cartridges? I suppose colour with white will depend on how good the printer repeats the paper position. Keep us up to date, sounds like it might be worth me buying a laser printer. There are building signs as well as railroad stuff I can see would be easier...

Re: Making decals
I now have the Ghost White toner cartridge installed and it produces white decals, just like it says it will. I have Excel spreadsheets with Railroad Roman and Railroad Gothic numbers and the Data items; these will allow mixing and matching of car details and reporting numbers. The decal sheets I'm ...

SCALETRAINS Tunnel Motor
I splashed out much of my back pay on on of these, courtesy of the nice, friendly people at Mech-Models. (Disclaimer, my relationship is that of a customer, nothing more.) So far I have merely set the address to the unit's running number and plan to run it a Crewe later on today; with luck I'll be a...

Re: Making decals
I can't locate a suitable driver for the ALPS MD4000, although it is theoretically possible to run old versions of Windows under Windows 10 Professional, but have come across an alternative solution. Ghost White Toner does white cartridges for various laser printers that replaces the black cartridge...
