Re: Western Union November meet 2013
I think although the crossing is controlled by signals etc, I think it would be even more fun if we add track warrants for one of the branches, I quite liked that element on the old Anson layout. :-) Hi Koos I have written a add on to JMRI which allows me to do TWs very quickly and update the Train...

Re: Winter Project - West Mary Yard - Postponed!
so I am a bit stuck with just the two 6ftx2ft boards. Hi Keith I have seen some really great O gauge exibition layouts less than that in size. However for plain switching see http://www.carendt.com/articles/highland/. Or Curren Street Yard 14' http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=dMhE18XH5PYC&pg=...

Re: Winter Project - West Mary Yard - Postponed!
The (run round) loop is where I tend to hit the lack of space problem, but want more than just an 'inglenook', I will need something operationally interesting. I'm still looking around at other ideas/options. Hi Keith You do not mention the size of your locos, if they are small switchers 14' should...

On30
Hi
Looking for some pointers for On30 as a couple of us in Western Union are going to have a go at laying our own track. Nothing else decided apart from narrow boards.
Thanks

Re: Switch Lists
Hi Mike In the real world there are I think lots of different "switch lists". At one extreme one has a list of numbers scribbled on the back of a fag packet by the conductor, in another period one has a tablet with internet connection in the cab updating real time. The only thing I believe...

I use them on my HO Module Jonesville. By and large they just work. We did have problems with two locos, but I tend to believe it was a gauge problem. Indeed I will probably use them again.
All the best

Hi martynGloriousnse wrote:Good in its own way though. How did it go?
Our Bideford trip went well. We took over 50' of modules, including Lloyd, Golden, Ross and Jonesville.

Hi MartynGloriousnse wrote: is there a restriction on multiple JMRI computers linked to a setup?
I _think_ that is dependant on ones DCC system. But certainly we have run with more than one computer acting as a WiFi throtle host.

Re: how to manage a module meet?
I think a logical evolution would be to use WiFi throttles on local/small meets , until problems , bugs etc are ironed out and everyone is comfortable in their use, before using them (prescribing them) on a large meet. Hi Koos I think we are past that stage. They seem to be working OK at quite larg...

Re: Interested in Layout Design?
And, for a layout of whatever size, and upon which you want to conduct some sort of "operations", you can't have enough storage. I am always reminded of the Tony Koester calculation that the storage tracks you really need are exactly double the number you originally thought, plus one. You...
