Hi All
I hope to be running JMRI/WiThrottle as well as using the corded Lenz throttles. I'll have the connection details availale if visitng operators would prefer to use that system.
Cheers

Many thanks to the Thamesiders guys for both putting on a great setup, and making me welcome and letting me have a play!

Seriously impressive modelling there. Mr Arnold's new boards also look fab. My favourite pic is #0081, of the grade crossing.Gloriousnse wrote:Some pics from the event, images are of the 3 US outline layouts at the show, i'll caption them tomorrow.

Looking good, guys! Maybe one day I'll get to see those modules...

You were the one who chose not to go when you had the opportunity.

Essex Belt Lines at Ally Pally
All
We all have a great time this weekend (and braved the snow in north London) taking our modules to the London Festival of Model Railways.
These are a few photos that I took on Fri and Sat of Essex Belt Lines

Also a big thanks to Martyn Read, Pete Blake, Alan Crooks and Don McDougall for helping us.
Cheers

I didn't have the opportunity. I live in Berkshire, so pain in the butt to travel to Ally Pally, plus I have a wife so prefer to spend my weekends with her & doing DIY (ie. getting my garage ready for my layout). I rarely go to shows for that very reason, unless they are close by (ie. Benson) & are 100% American. Exceptions are made for meets.

You missed an excellent show! The Essex Belt was worth the (advance) entry fee alone!
There were some good other layouts there too, though I think some are more suited to 'Meets', rather than shows,
as you need to spend quite a while at the layout to see movement!
Even the snow didn't dampen enthusiasm.
And I spent more than intended too (Thanks to DCC Supplies.....).

We had it at the Seaboard Southern show a couple of years ago - there is video of it at your show on youtube - search for Seaboard Southern.

Of course, forgot about that - but think my layout was there as well, so don't think I got to see any other layouts - http://youtu.be/FIkHcwy8Va8

Very nice, Dan. I hope the British Modellers appreciated the demonstration on what 'proper' model railroading looks like
Re: Essex Belt Lines at Ally Pally
I certainly heard quite a few comments that it was the best layout at the exhibition. One guy said that it was (something like) "surprisingly good", whatever he might have meant by that. I took it as a compliment. He certainly stood around and watched it for quite a while.
Oh, and I want to say a big thank you to the Thamesiders for letting me come and play. I had a fantastic time.

Yep, thanks again for the chance of a play
I too heard several positive comments whilst operating and watching, and i've seen a few more online in various places since, so I'd suggest it went down very well! A tough act to follow in many ways!

I dunno Martyn, I think it's fair to say RS Tower have blazed the trail for US outline modular layouts in recent years.Gloriousnse wrote:Yep, thanks again for the chance of a play

The Essex (& East Sussex / Surrey) crew have been well chuffed with the response - just need a bit of a break before attempting something on that scale again.
What would be great in the near future would be to have an overall NMRA setup from various groups built to the new standard at AP.
