If anyone would like to bring a layout, especially if it hasn’t been seen often in the Midlands, please contact Steve Dennison, stevedennison46@yahoo.com, 07834 718651.
As this is our 70th anniversary, we are hoping to put on some extra events – watch this space and the website, www. nmraconvention.org.uk, for more details as they are arranged. We are offering convention polo shirts (details on the booking form), pins, etc; more details to follow.
For those who would like to see other, even non-railroad, attractions locally to the area, www.visitderbyshire.co.uk/ places_to_visit.ihtml is a good place to start.
FUTURE CONVENTIONS – 2016 AND
BEYOND
The calendar has moved on one year and we are now looking at 2016 and beyond. Proposals and even suggestions are invited for possible Region Convention venues for 2016 and beyond. To help potential host groups the BOD invites any members to come forward who are willing to assist and learn from others more experienced in organising and running conventions to form a working party to identify suitable venues, negotiate the terms and put together a proposal bid to the BOD. Whilst some local presence to the venue hotel is a must, it is not necessary that the entire team live nearby. The 2014 team was from outside the local Division area but local help was involved.
It is not too early for any group of members to start thinking about 2016. There are other venues out there that might be explored at two locations in Yorkshire and another in Reading (Reading Best Western). If members want to see a Convention in the North again – the last time was 2000 – you only need to get together and come talk to the BOD.
