P. 3

Back in November it became apparent that a lot of material and information was going to BR E-news but not coming to Roundhouse to the point where I queried if it was worth me carrying on with the magazine. The responses were very much in favour of keeping Roundhouse but controlling what was put into the e-Newsletter.
It was agreed that the E-news was appropriate for just that - news, and anything time sensitive that needed to go out promptly, because Roundhouse is only bi- monthly.
It was decided that the way around the problem is this: anything a member sends (by email) to BR E-news will automatically be forwarded to me for inclusion in Roundhouse if appropriate. This will include articles and photos, and especially news of forthcoming meets, shows, events for our calendar. Thus it will be assumed that anybody sending in any material has no objection to it appearing in Roundhouse. If not time-sensitive it might appear later in the year of course, depending on space available. If such material is deemed suitable for print, the E-news editor will be advised not to use it, or at least not until a while after it has been used in Roundhouse. This does not apply to the local group e- newsletters, which obviously go to a smaller specific group of members, rather than the whole Region. However, editors of such newsletters are welcome to forward articles and news items to Roundhouse for the benefit of members at large.
Apologies for somehow leaving Bearwood out of Division Diary in the last issue. I've no idea where in cyberspace it went but it is now back again, where it belongs!
Also the Linda Tinker Books advert carried their old address. This issue corrects that to the new address.

One of the great things about this hobby is that there is so much variety in it that I still come across many things I've hardly,
or never, heard of before.
Towards the end of 2016 I found myself receiving, for painting and repairs, a load of Pacific Electric items, and these from two different modellers.
Anything like this spurs much research, though fortunately one of the PE modellers also provided two excellent Morning Sun books full of photos.
This system, which ran all over the Los Angeles area and developed strong links to Southern Pacific, looked a bit like the London Underground if that had all been above surface! Having said that many of the services were single cars, or short trains of two or three cars, but there is a big variety of stock and many variations in colour schemes.
I now wonder what my next meeting with a previously unknown (to me) company will be.
