The passage of time is quite amazing! In the two years since Peter Bowen took on the role of Editor and Publisher of Round- house, building on the legacy of the late Martin Boyask, Roundhouse has gone from strength to strength. Thought-provoking articles have been sought from leading model railroaders around the world, enhanced with fabulous photography and terrific graphics and layout! Roundhouse really is a world-wide model railroading publishing industry leader!
Writing of the April 2019 Roundhouse, Past President Mike Arnold, emailed ‘Peter, This issue just plopped onto my door- mat.......Wow.... It is another magnificent issue. Not only do I love the spread of arti- cles but also, sad to say, the advertisements which offer a marvellous panoply of what is available today in our hobby. Brilliant
and well done – BUT...how do you keep up that standard? I am sure you will as I admire that you go out looking for material – you are a commissioning editor as well as copy editor. Others in the past expected the articles and news to come to them..... seek and ye shall find, as the good book says. And you have. Many thanks, Mike PS Just makes me want to write more stuff for you.’
With his out-going, can-do outlook Peter
has been able to persuade a wide range of authors to contrib- ute to Roundhouse to create a great model railroad magazine, something that as the current NMRA British Region President, I am immensely
proud of.
A key component
of Roundhouse
is the on-going
Back-to-Basics
series developed,
promoted and
curated by Past
President Mike
Arnold.Writing
of the Back-to-
Basics series in April 2019, Mike notes ‘I have alerted the next two teams of the extension (to the timetable of the series) which means we will be into early 2020 with definite Parts committed. I shall start contacting the other 2020 authors in due course but when that list is completed I think the work will be completed unless you can think of any more subjects? It might just need an index to complete it then.’ Are there addi-
tional topics you would like to see includ- ed? Please email me with your thoughts.
After 12 years in the role of NMRA BR Roundhouse Advertising Manager, Jonathan Small is stepping down from the role and handing it over to Robert Henworth, who has kindly agreed to take it on.
Jonathan, thank you so much for your dec- ade plus of service to the NMRA British Region in this key role! And Robert, thank you so much for taking this on! Volun- teers are vital to the very existence of the NMRA British Region! Please let me know if you would like to volunteer for a role
– and it can count towards your Achieve- ment Program endeavours!
Writing to thank Roundhouse advertisers for their support to the NMRA British Region through their advertising in Round- house, Jonathan commented ‘With our new editor, Peter Bowen I know that you all see what a beautiful specialist magazine Roundhouse has become. It does the re- gion great credit, and it does the magazine great credit to have all of you advertising your businesses among its pages.
‘My thanks to you all for your interest and commitment to Roundhouse over the years. I’ve enjoyed working with you all,
and your predecessors who took space in our pages during my tenure, and I wish you all the very best for the future. I’ll still
hopefully see many of you at annual Conventions.
‘Robert will be in touch as soon as he has had the
opportunity to digest all the details of our agreements. If you
have any questions during the handover
don’t hesitate to ask either of us,
please.’
