The hand rails are brass rod again fol- lowing typical locomotive practice
E.Water tank filler hatches
The hatches were made from brass
plate and rod cut and soldered to repre- sent a hatch with a handle.
F.Decals
The road name is unique and my Inkjet printer has a black line fault so I de- signed the name, numbers and lining to suit that limitation. The lining colour also limited the locomotive livery.
The finished locomotive has a DCC chip fitted and runs on No 13.
What prevented this from being scratchbuilt?
• I used a donor chassis. If I had copied the original but used my own materials to build it, then the rules on scratch building would have been satisfied.
• The bogie side frame would need rebuilding too.
The rules allow the use of power trucks with commercial drives and a commer- cial motor. Two simple steps and I could have been there!
