This photo shows a Chinese DF7G-C, one of Cuba’s more recent arrivals and
an EMD G8 export loco. Some of the Chinese diesels are wrecks after about 10 years
whereas the noble G8s still give sterling service after more than 60 years.The models were built by a young Cuban modeller using the most basic of tools and materials in HO scale. Although I railfanned the US many times Cuba stands out for me as a railroad country and railfan destination and I enjoyed the end of steam and the joys of 1950s style US railroading over quite a few years.
